To a new mother

In your arms, a miracle so small, A tiny life, your greatest call. With every breath, with every sigh, You’ve become the lullaby. The days are new, the nights are long, But in your heart, a love so strong. You’ve stepped into a world unknown, Where every moment, joy has grown. You are the comfort, you are the light, Guiding this soul through day and night. A mother’s strength, a mother’s grace, Reflected in that tiny face. The journey’s just begun, it’s true, But every step is made with you. Through sleepless nights and tender care, You’ll find your heart is always there. For in this role, you’ve found your place, A love that time cannot erase. So cherish every smile, each tear, For motherhood is always near. And as you hold this precious gift, Know that you, too, will learn and lift. A new mother, brave and kind, With endless love that you’ll unwind. - Written and dedicated by Manashdeep Dey on 28th Aug,2024

With arms wide open

Ever since we knew it's as if a life we have found anew, exhilaration, joy, confusion overwhelming waves of mixed emotion.  What do we tell you? How should we prepare? Maybe the moment we see you words will be there. What I can, tell you is though it may seem dark now , there will be light- this faith let me endow. Though muffled sounds  is all you hear, soon rhythms of the world will be clear. All you touch may be wet and cold, soon love's warmth you will hold. You will see the world with all its wonder, works of evergreen legends in your ears will thunder. Amongst the general you will carve your space, behold beauty in ordinary and commonplace.  Even if the journey  doesn't go as planned, you will fall and learn to stand. But all the while we will hold your hand, With arms wide open, we welcome you to this land.

Brave son of motherland

Brave son of an opressed land, tools of courage and determination in hand, Rising above the suffering masses You awoke, arose to assume command. When mother's tears were running it's course, You heeded her calls with legion of  thousands following you close. Azad Hind Fauj as the liberation force, Bold hearts of men and women were it's source. "Give me blood, I will give you freedom" Is what you said. Chanting slogans, singing songs, countless charged ahead. Three words were your mantra, of freeing lives of many- "Ittehad, Etemad aur Qurbani"! To this day, the fight for freedom hasn't come to an end, but we will be victorious as the flame of patriotism is still lit in the hearts of your countrymen, Carrying your legacy, united we stand. Jai Hind!!!

Of fame

Yesterday no one knew you, nameless you wandered free; grew like a wild flower on a distant hill, praised by eyes that held beauty- Tomorrow everyone will know you, your name known far and wide; like an exquisite butterfly on display standing stare of every passer-by- Today is when you must decide which choice would have your senses soothe, for dear friend beware, of fleeting fame it is but truth- of course it pays you thrice; even so, the elixir of happiness it gives comes with a heavier price.

In the cage of mind

Caged and trapped we flutter like a wild bird- its feathers ruffled and  its feet enchained; agitated, unsteady when we try to fly we realize this cage is not a physical one- with our "ifs" and "buts" deep in mind ingrained; its our own creation, thwarting a full flight our own limitation.

A prayer of penance

Forgive us O' mother for we have sinned, you bore us in your womb and we left your body skinned; you chose to bear life and what glorious fruit it was, but you bore a viper in your bosom with ample venom in its jaws- existence of every passing soul starts and ends in you, yet rivers of blood we spill to cleave, every inch of you. Fleeting is the nature of life ephemeral is its essence- for glory and triumph, Oh! how we have erred  to mark a temporary presence. O' mother Earth I pray to you, let the folly of our  conceits, on us dawn- and awaken in us the responsibilities that we own, for you are the only hope we have- only home we've known.

Warmongering Man

You charge with your guns and your tanks that purges lives of thousands; you drop your bombs and blazing missiles into the houses of innocents; You attack with your tactics and strategy smiles of many vanishes in tragedy; Your empty promises and sly lies rakes in bodies in piles; If you fight, they will have to fight, If you step forward, they will have to defend, If you force, they will have to die- The choice is yours to make but don't for a second pretend, you didn't have one! Just now the world was united- suffering, dying, fighting a common enemy(covid), it's a shame you had to take its place and rip the world apart only to make it go through it again, this time all alone! You hurtful man... Shameful man... Hateful man...
